Hostess with the mostess...

Look who started school last week!

Little Miss Kaitlyn is officially a 2nd grader! She has been so excited about starting her new school. On her first day, she told me she was so nervous that her toes were sweating! After meeting her teacher, she was much more at ease. While she was posing for these pictures, she has to be sure that I got a picture of the cool backpack that Miss Melanie got her for her birthday...thanks Miss Mel!

It’s been tough readjusting our schedules this week so there hasn’t been much time for blogging, but I have missed it dearly!

Yesterday I hosted a baby shower for my cousin, Missey. My mom came to town and stayed the weekend with us. She is always such a huge help (thanks, mom)! It was so great seeing her, it's tough living 3 hours apart. We had a house full of family all weekend and loved every minute of it!

The baby shower went great. Missey got lots of cute stuff!

Here are a few of the decorations….
I made this banner with the baby’s name, Maddi (short for Madelyn). I made it out of scrapbook paper and strung it across the doorway.

Then I printed out lots of “baby words” and mounted them on the leftover paper from the banner. I stuck them on white sucker sticks and had some super cute, easy, and cheap cupcake toppers. I never got around to making favors for the shower, but the guests survived regardless.

I think the best part of the shower was when Austin (the baby’s big brother) performed a song that he wrote for Maddi. He was reluctant to perform since he didn’t have his guitar, but with a little persuasion (and with the use of Kailtyn’s red cowgirl hat) he put on quite a show!

Here it is, for your viewing pleasure….

I think my favorite was the "I'm gon' go getcha baaaaand aid" :)

Love the banner and the cupcakes, but my favorite was the big brother singing. He's got a sweet southern draw...too precious.

Have a good week!!!

Can Austin come live with me for a while.....just a little while....I need to laugh that hard every day!!!! HILARIOUS! And, when you get hurt, I'm gon' hold your hand.....as if he ever thinks his little sis will get hurt!! He is one of a kind! Kaitlyn is sure to be star student with a backpack like that. Hang in there with the schedule thing-it gets better, I promise!!! You did a great job with the shower!

You were right, I couldn't have kept a straight face. He's going to be such a good big brother.
Haaaa, I miss that kid, too.
